The Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association (DMRBIA) is a non-profit organization that works with it’s members to create and manage programs that aim to improve businesses in the downtown area of Maple Ridge.
One of the ways that DMRBIA contribute to businesses is through planning and hosting events that support it’s members. This summer this will be Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) student Nicole’s primary job. She will take on the planning and organizing of the events that the DMRBIA put on.
In the Fall Nicole is going to be taking general studies at the University of the Fraser Valley and in February is moving to Australia to pursue nursing. The skills she has learned through the CSJ program are pushing her out of her comfort zone similar to how her experience will be as a nurse. She expressed her gratitude to this job and the CSJ program, as this is her first official job. Nicole is learning hands-on skills such as office skills, leadership skills, and organizational skills that she can bring forward to other areas of her life and her career.
It is great to see your hard work Nicole. Thank you for the visit and I wish you the best of luck in your future studies and career!
