Family Education and Support Centre is a multi-service agency that provides information and support in a range of areas such as parent and child programing, mental health services, multiculturalism, and diversity education. One of their community-based partnerships is called Local Immigration Partnership (LIPs) and they provide support for newcomers and their integration process.
This summer through the Family Education and Support Centre and LIPs, Canada Summer Jobs student Nastasha is working on a brochure for newcomers to Maple Ridge. Nastasha is a communications student at Simon Fraser University, and this job is giving her the opportunity to put her education to work. Her responsibility is to create and design a brochure in which newcomers in the community can read to find resources to make their transition successful. Nastasha is grateful for the job as she is able to explore work directly in her field of study and it is giving her the experience that will better prepare her for a job when she graduates from university.
Thank you for the visit and the work you are doing for the community Nastasha!
